Technically, I think they’re both accurate words for different things. Comforter = heavy blanket used as-is. Duvet = heavy blanket meant to go inside a cover. At least, that’s how I’ve figured it out up here in the great white north.

….but I have a comforter on my bed now with a removable inset thingy. I never heard of duvet until she mentioned it casually in conversation.

I was like wtf did you say? she then proceeded to wind up me because it amuses her to no end. We fought over zebra, tomato, potato, and aluminum (which seems to sound like a spell when I say it)
